About Us
Skidmore’s is a small, family business that has operated
out of Laramie, Wyoming since 1987. Our products are handmade
in small batches in our “batch plant” adjacent to
our home.
We hand label, package, and ship daily to customers
all over the country. Our business philosophy is simple;
make good products that work and are safe and pleasant to use,
and take care of our customers.
If you call Skidmore’s, you’ll
either get Vince or Susan on the line. If we have our hands
full, either with production or our daughter, Fiona, you’ll
get our answering machine.

to you very quickly. We’re happy to answer any
questions, and enjoy hearing how the weather is in your neck
of the woods.
Prior to the May 2007 Leather Crafters Tradeshow
in Sheridan, Wyoming, we thought it would be fun to create
a giant banner for the backdrop of our booth which would list
all our customers! We
soon discovered that our customer base was far too large for
just one banner, so we narrowed the list down to just customers
with business names that included the words “saddle,” “tack,” “boots,” “leather,” “cowboy,” “western,” and “outfitters.” This
gave us two 6 1/2 foot banners with three columns each of saddle & tack
shops, feed stores, western outfitters, saddle makers, shoe
shops, and boot makers - over 1000 in all! And this was
just a slice of our customer list. This exercise renewed
our appreciation of our loyal customer base which has evolved
almost entirely by word of mouth. We have done virtually
no advertising over the past 20 years, yet we ship daily to
individuals and businesses all over the U.S. and occasionally
internationally. We think this speaks volumes about the
quality and effectiveness of our products. We’d
like to say “THANK YOU!” to everyone that has
passed our products on to others, or has recommended them to
a customer. Our special appreciation goes out to our
local supporters in the Laramie area, and to the folks who
were willing to try the product at the very beginning. We’d
also like to thank the JunkMarket gals, Sue Whitney & Ki
Nassauer, who use, and regularly mention our products in Country
Home and JunkMarket magazines!
